America and China have all failed! This country will become the world's richest in 2025. Where will our India rank?

The list of the richest countries for the year 2025 has surprised everyone. Liechtenstein has surpassed the US and China to become the world's richest country. Meanwhile, India ranks fourth in the world in terms of total economy, but in terms of per capita income, we currently rank 124th.

Richest country in world

Top 10 Richest Countries in 2025: The year 2025 is nearing its end, and with it, the world's economic situation has also come to light. Whenever we talk about the world's "richest" countries, our attention often turns to superpowers like the United States or China.

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) figure comes to mind, which indicates the size of a country's economy. But does having a large economy mean that its ordinary citizens are also happy and wealthy?

The true measure of wealth is not total GDP, but per capita income, and in this regard, smaller countries have surpassed even the largest giants.

These 10 countries have the most money (based on per capita income)

The country that topped the 2025 rankings may be small in area, but its citizens have the deepest pockets. Liechtenstein emerged as the world's richest country with a per capita income of $201,112.3. Following closely behind is Singapore, Asia's leading business hub, with a per capita income of $156,969.1.

The small European country of Luxembourg is in third place, followed by Ireland in fourth. Macau SAR, famous for its gambling and tourism, is in fifth place.

Furthermore, Qatar, with its oil and gas reserves, is in sixth, Norway in seventh, and Switzerland in eighth. Brunei and Guyana also secured their places in the top 10. This list clearly demonstrates that countries with large GDPs do not necessarily have high per capita incomes.

What is the condition of India?

Now the question is, where does India, one of the world's fastest-growing economies, rank on this list? The picture here is a bit mixed.

When it comes to total economy size, or GDP, India's reputation is resonating globally. India is the world's fourth-largest economy, behind the United States, China, and Germany.

However, when this wealth is distributed among the country's vast population, the figures change. India still struggles in terms of per capita income.

As of September 2025, India's per capita income on a PPP basis is $12,130. This figure ranks India 124th out of nearly 200 countries in the world.

The poorest country in the world

South Sudan is at the bottom of this wealth race. It is also the world's newest country, having separated from Sudan in 2011.

Civil war and instability have led to a dire economic situation. South Sudan's per capita GDP (PPP) in 2025 was just $716.25, making it the world's poorest country by this measure.
